The Aegean I in port in Rhodes (21901 bytes)The Aegean I is a medium sized cruise ship that was leased from Hellenic Dolphin Lines for this season. Renaissance Cruises normally uses smaller, more luxurious ships. The Aegean I was their entry into lower priced cruises. It seems to suit them since next season they are introducing a new ship, the R1, on this itinerary for more information, see their web site at http:www.rencruises.com.

renroom.jpg (27296 bytes)The Aegean I cabins are typical of remodeled older ships: no extra space: good for sleeping, changing, and storing your gear. Ours was similar to this picture except that there was a swing down third bunk over the left-hand bed, and the chair at the foot of the left-hand bunk in the picture is where the bathroom was.

The deck layout is shown in these drawings. Our cabin was 3102, way at the back of A deck. It was convenient to go out onto the observation deck by our cabin, and from there up one deck to the Lido Lounge where buffet breakfasts and lunches were served, and where tea was available around the clock.
