Wanzhou

Home Up

Wanzhou isn't in any of our guide books! Well actually it is, but under the old name of Wanxian. This is a small city of around 2 million people. It is at about the halfway point between Chongqin and Yichang, and has been an important river port for centuries. They used to build boats here out of the cedar trees found on the slopes.

They have not had the time to catalog the collection, much less exhibit it. Still they have a few items on display including a hanging coffin, a relic of the Ba people. They have built a display to show how the coffins might have been placed on the cloff faces.
