The Headwaters of the Salzach

The river Salzach arises in the glaciers of the Hohe Tauern range, flows east past Kaprun, hits the Dachstein range, and turns north. It flows through Salzburg, becomes the border between Austria and Germany, and ends up in the Danube. It jumps down out of the mountains in the spectacular Krimml falls. On the way back we drove up the side of the valley for the view. It wa worth it!
