Puget Sound, Sept. 2006

We took a short driving trip to visit the Puget Sound area.


On the way up
We drove from Sunnyvale to the northern edge of Washington. It started to get interesting near the California-Oregon border.
Birch Bay, Washington
We spent a week at our timeshare condo in Birch Bay, exploring the scenic wonders of Puget Sound.
Whidbey Island
Whidbey Island was our first excursion. We took the ferry to the south end, and drove to Deception Pass at the north end.
Lynden, Washington
Lynden is a town that promotes its Dutch heritage.
Sedro-Woolley, Washigton
The name celebrates tthe town's major product: timber (Red Cedar) and a former leading citizen.
Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest
We drove up to the end of the road for superb views of Mount Shuksan and Mount Baker
Olympic Peninsula
We took the ferry over to the Olympic peninsula to visit the rain forest on the slopes of Mount Olympus
Victoria, BC
From the Olympic peninsula we went across to Victoria on our way to Vancouver.
Vancouver BC
We spent a couple of days in Vancouver seeing the sights and sampling the food.
Columbia River Gorge
We took a side trip on the way home to see the Columbia River Gorge along the Washington-Oregon border.
